Announcing the birth of....

Heston Manuel Miller

Although I am generally against inducing labor, I went in to be induced on the 10th of January at 12:00 a.m. This pregnancy was extremely taxing on my body and things were slowly falling apart. We decided that what was really best for both mine and Heston's health was to deliver. I started contractions on my own early Sunday morning, but they weren't really doing much, so when I got to the hospital they got the ball rolling. I labored intensely for 30 hours at the hospital.

Once I was fully dialated, I started pushing and it was apparent that this baby was not going to come the natural way. My doctor quickly scheduled me for a c-section and everything went smoothly. Once Heston was out and measured, it became apparent that had we continued trying for a vaginal delivery, the doctor would have had to break the baby's shoulder in order to get him out...and possibly even had to break my pelvis. I am so grateful that I have a wonderful doctor who listened to her gut and did what was best for mine and Heston's health!

We decided to give our little man the middle name of Manuel. This is my stepdad's name, his father's name, and even his gradfather's name. I've always felt lucky that I have two great dads. I especially feel grateful that this man chose to be my dad. I hope that Heston will be able to look up to his grandpa and be proud to bear his name. Grandpa has lovingly given Heston the nickname "Manucho".

Here's Steve with the new baby. Everyone got to meet this little guy before me. I was back in recovery while all of these pictures were taken. You can tell that exhaustion has begun to set in at this point.

Christopher is pretty excited to be an uncle again.

Stefanie is absolutely in love with Heston. She is a wonderful big sister and a huge helper!
